Down Under Goes Vertical - Melbourne Australia

A Melbourne Company “Upright Burials” is offering a new way of Burial, a corpse will be placed in a biodegradable bag and lowered feet first into a hole 30 inches in diameter and nine and a half feet deep. The Company claims this method of burial will produce far less carbon dioxide than ordinary  burials. Upright Burials are hoping to bury 30 - 40,000 people this way in a field two hours west of Melbourne at a cost of $2,750.
Once the field is full it will go back to pasture, no headstones will be placed, instead names will be inscribed on a memorial wall.
