The National Funeral Expo held in Stoneleigh in June gave the Directors of absentFriends.com a wonderful opportunity to meet many fantastic people in the funeral industry. One such person who left a lasting impression was Mr Edward Cutler, Managing Director of Cutler Funeral Directors, aged 19.

Edward entered the funeral industry at the early age of 16, after convincing a local funeral director to take him on for work experience.  His career path chosen, Edward spent time volunteering in funeral homes, gaining essential experience, until he was offered a full time position as a Funeral Operative on attaining his necessary drivers licence.  He was quickly promoted to Funeral Conductor, conducting funerals in for offices in Lichfield, Rugeley, Cannock, Penkridge, Heath Hayes, and Burntwood.   However, his sights were set much higher.  He writes on the Cutler Funeral Directors’ website “My dream was to one day, become the proprietor of my own Funeral Directors, and provide a caring, compassionate, dignified and alternative service to my local community...eventually we found the premises on Little Sutton Road, which were perfect. Cutler Funeral Directors, an independent family run business, is now caring for the local community”.

Although traditional funeral options remain part of the service Cutler Funeral Directors’ provide to their clients, they also offer an array of alternative funeral plans including Ashes into Glass, Alternative Coffins and Caskets, and LifeGem to name just a few.  Edward says “we believe that the funeral of a loved one is the final dedication to their life, and that’s why we offer the widest range of Traditional and Alternative Services possible, to truly personalise the funeral, and reflect on that person’s life.... We offer a very personal and alternative service, and take care of all of our clients as if they were part of the family”.

With the technology and advancement of a new generation on his side, together with a fresh outlook, Edward is one to be watched in bringing modern ideas into this industry and keeping the industry up to date.  Having already achieved so much at an early age, we look forward to seeing what he will be bringing to the industry next.
